FOR SALE: Made to measure tweed suit (1999). Hardly worn. Suit extremely portly young fogey with fantasies of land ownership and grouse shooting. 48" chest, 42" waist, 31" inside leg. Double vented jacket (a mistake) and general second-rate cut.

Weight loss and change in circumstances forces sale. Not to be repeated opportunity as tailors (Bertie Wooster, Fulham Rd) now closing down. Cost: £580 new. Yours for £150 ONO, squire, can't say fairer than that.

Footnote: Not only does the imminent demise of Bertie Wooster mean that I can't flog the suit back to their secondhand dept (the pictures don't do it justice - in my fatter days I looked like a red-and-yellow check tweed version of the Graf Zeppelin) but also that for the sake of value I was compelled to expand my formal wardrobe.

Blimey! For a moment there I thought I was looking at the Moss Bros catalogue: nice threads, Al.
I think you should buy them Jim - make a good impression in your new job
Well, all right - but only if I can have the yellow braces thrown in. Al?
I didn't mention the full extent of my splurge. I also went in for a Huntsman dinner jacket, (single breasted, one-button Huntsman house cut, narrow peaked lapels, semi-tape semi-braid trousers, evening waistcoat, orginally made in 1967 for Sir W Beale)and did a deal for that and the morning suit for 500 squid.
Cyclone Watti is paying half though.
James: even the braces would be two sizes too large for you...
How much for the green handled mop?
Very dashing Alex. A nice update from the tweed number. ;)
