Chef's Salad

This is the Arkle of compilation CDs. You can stuff all that Nick Hornby High Fidelity nonsense. All of this is music used in films; perhaps they're just damn good tracks (eg Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah) or perhaps they mean more to me because of their association with my favourite films. My musical tastes are elevated enough but once refracted through the sensibilties of Wong-Kar Wai or the Coens they're painfully wanky.

1. There Is An End - The Greenhornes feat Holly Golightly
Broken Flowers (2005).

2. Things In Life - Dennis Brown
3. California Dreaming - The Mamas and The Papas
4. Dreams - Faye Wong (Mandarin cover of Cranberries original)
Chungking Express (1995)

5. Chan Chan - Buena Vista Social Club
Buena Vista Social Club (2000).

6. Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright (cover of Leonard Cohen)
Shrek (2001). Apparently...

7. Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles - Captain Beefheart
8. Lujon - Henry Mancini
The Big Lebowski (1997).

9. Girls - Death In Vegas
10. Tommib - Squarepusher
11. Too Young - Phoenix
12. Sometimes - My Bloody Valentine
13. Just Like Honey - The Jesus and Mary Chain
Lost In Translation (2002).

14. Sixteen Reasons - Connie Stevens
15. Bring It On Home - Sonny Boy Williamson
16. Llorando - Rebekah Del Rio (Spanish cover of Roy Orbison's Crying)
17. I've Told Every Little Star - Linda Scott
Mulholland Drive (2001).

18. Sing - Blur
Trainspotting (1997).

19. An Ending: Ascent - Brian Eno.
For All Mankind (1989).

Remember - this is NOT available in shops but only from a mysterious PO Box in Portsmouth. Oh, and maybe Limewire.
